Drum Corps International announces the launch of SOUND Education, a program of Schools, Organizations & Universities Networked with Drum Corps International. The SOUND Education program is a strategic initiative established to introduce the organization's high-achieving performing arts students to university-level performing arts schools and organizations.

As part of the SOUND Education program, participating schools will be showcased in a festival-like setting at select Drum Corps International major events with informational displays and literature distribution. Students will have the opportunity to be introduced to and learn more about these schools and organizations which are dedicated to helping participants in Drum Corps International events to become aware of tremendous, new and varied educational opportunities.

Jacksonville State University
The JSU Department of Music offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a concentration in music education leads to a professional licensure to teach music in Alabama public schools at both elementary and secondary levels. The Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a concentration in general music requires a non-music minor and offers a program designed for the study of music within a liberal arts curriculum. At the graduate level, the Master of Arts degree offers a concentration in music education as well as a fifth-year professional certification program.

Morehead State University
The Morehead State University Department of Music has a distinguished history of educating musicians and teachers since the 1920s. The department currently enrolls more than 220 majors that hail from several states and foreign countries and employs a distinguished faculty of more than 30 full- and part-time instructors with extensive credentials from many of the nation's most highly regarded schools of music. The student and faculty performing groups, which are widely recognized for their artistic excellence, serve as laboratories for the development of professional skills and a full schedule of recitals, concerts, clinics and other special events, is offered each year to serve students, the community and the surrounding tri-state region.
