Drum Corps International has partnered with Music For All and Downtown Indy, Inc. to bring a family-focused community gathering to the heart of Indianapolis to celebrate music education and teachers, and the importance they play in our lives. Shining a Light on Music Education is an event featuring an evening of live ensembles both locally and from around the globe, coming together on Monument Circle from 5pm to dark on Friday, August 11th . The event will culminate in a salute to Indianapolis History with the Shining a Light production shown nightly on Monument Circle.

This event will be a family-friendly festival-like atmosphere with some of Indianapolis’ best food vendors onsite and entertainment aplenty. As well, percussive units from DCI’s DrumLine Battle division, SoundSport ensembles, and the INpact Band, an ensemble bringing together middle school music students from across the state each summer, will share the spotlight.
