BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma — After a marquee matchup Tuesday night, there’s now one less undefeated corps on the 2024 DCI Summer Tour.
Often one of the first key meetings of top-scoring competitors, DCI Broken Arrow presented by Oklahoma Baptist University Athletic Bands serves as a key precursor to upcoming headline events.
Finishing atop the lineup and setting the tone for a busy back half of the summer were the Bluecoats, continuing an undefeated start to the 2024 season and snapping an unprecedented Blue Devils unbeaten streak that stretched a staggering 1,804 days.

“It was electric, everything that I could have asked for in a matter of a week since the last time we performed,” Bluecoats drum major Tony Gamez said coming off the field at Broken Arrow Memorial Stadium. “Our drum corps is absolutely amazing. They're pushing every single day.”

2. Blue Devils » 88.250
3. Boston Crusaders » 88.250
4. Carolina Crown » 86.750
Bluecoats earned an advantage of 0.9 points over the second-place Blue Devils and Boston Crusaders most noticeably due to a strong advantage in the general effect caption where the Ohio corps outscored the field by half a point.
Blue Devils, however, bested Bluecoats in color guard and percussion, and took first in the visual caption overall.
With a stop scheduled in Houston on Friday, the Concord, California corps will have another chance to face off against the Bluecoats before Saturday’s DCI Southwestern Championship in San Antonio, an event the Devils have won the last two years.
“I think after tonight we're ready to push,” Blue Devils drum major Carson Kimber said. “We're ready to drive.”
Boston Crusaders made headlines of their own, tying the Blue Devils for second while taking first place in percussion and color guard, as well as second in overall music and overall general effect.
“It's a really live stadium where we performed really close to the crowd,” Boston Crusaders drum major Wes Booker said. “I feel like we gave it our all.”
Carolina Crown rounded out the top four, fending off Phantom Regiment by 2.3 points while staying within 1.5-points of the Boston Crusaders. Crown scored as high as second in visual analysis and third in color guard.
5. Phantom Regiment » 84.550
6. Mandarins » 82.500
7. The Cavaliers » 80.950
In the first meeting of two corps who went neck-and-neck last summer, Phantom Regiment outscored Mandarins by more than two points, thanks in large part to a significant seven tenths advantage in the general effect caption.
The Cavaliers, making their return to the Broken Arrow lineup for the first time since 2022, rounded out the competition. The Green Machine broke the 80-point threshold for the first time this season, while scoring ahead of the Mandarins in the visual analysis and percussion captions.
Many of Tuesday night’s corps will go on to perform Thursday, July 18, in either Denton or Waco, as the DCI Texas Series presented by USBands continues.
