August 10 as part of the final day of the 2024 Drum Corps International World Championships in Indianapolis, drum lines from across the United States faced off in the return of DCI’s popular DrumLine Battle to the annual SoundSport Music & Food Festival presented by Jazz Wealth.
This year's DrumLine Battle, fueled by Unleaded 88, allowed percussionists to feature their best drumming, stick tricks, visuals, acrobatic stunts, high adrenaline movement and a whole lot of attitude. Battles were evaluated on-the-spot by a panel of three judges who not only take into account drumming skills and proficiency but also showmanship and the group’s ability to get the crowd to “give it up” for their performances.
