Registration is now available for the Percussive Arts Society's (PAS) annual indoor Marching Percussion Festival that takes place Nov. 11 and 12, 2010 at the Indiana Convention Center, located in downtown Indianapolis. The PAS Marching Percussion Festival is recognized as one of the nation's premier indoor festivals for presenting some of the most cutting-edge, contemporary marching percussion performances by high school and college marching individuals and ensembles. Both competitive and non-competitive categories are offered and all participants of the Marching Percussion Festival will receive verbal, written, or audio evaluations.



Individual competition includes high school and collegiate performances on snare drum, tenors, keyboard, timpani and a newly created category for multiple-percussion. Ensemble competition includes a small ensemble category and a marching/standstill category for larger percussion sections. Subject to change, competition adjudicators include Scott Johnson and Brian Mason. The highest scoring ensemble will receive the coveted Fred Sanford Award.



High school and collegiate marching ensembles have the opportunity to participate in a non-competitive Interactive Clinic on Friday morning, Nov. 12. Clinic participants will work with two renowned clinicians for up to 30 minutes on the director's choice of music. Tom Aungst, DCI Hall of Fame member and percussion arranger and caption head for the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, along with Michael Burritt, Professor of Percussion at The Eastman School of Music, are this year's Interactive Clinic clinicians.



The number of participants is limited and performance slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Special exhibition performances will be offered on Friday, November 12 by the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, Moorehead State University Percussion Section and a solo snare drum performance by WGI Hall of Fame member and current Percussion Director Mark Thurston.



The Marching Percussion Festival takes place in conjunction with the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), the largest annual gathering of percussionists from around the world. PASIC consists of over 115 events on 13 stages and includes clinics, concerts and master classes in all areas of percussion. Of note, marching percussion session highlights throughout the weekend include sessions featuring Nick Attanasio, Therese Cuccia and Dominick Cuccia; Lee Caron and Ameri-clique; Iain Moyer, Colin McNutt and The Cadets Percussion Section; Jeff Queen; Caleb Rothe; and clinic/performance by the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.
