INDIANAPOLIS — As part of conducting its regular business at the DCI Annual Meetings in Indianapolis on Saturday, January 6, the voting membership of Drum Corps International elected members for open positions on its board of directors.
Each year, three representatives are elected to rotating three-year terms for the nine-member board.
The DCI Board of Directors establishes the strategic vision of the organization as well as its business operations on behalf of voting member organizations. Board members offer unique insights, qualifications, and perspectives for organizational governance, business efficiency and effectiveness of execution against the corporate mission.
Newly-elected board members include:
Emily Neuendorf (At-Large Director, three-year term)
• Director of school and community relations, Waterloo (Iowa) Community School District
• Former director of foundation and community relations, Waverly Health Center
• Pursuing Master’s in leadership and management
• Professional background in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, journalism and crisis/strategic communications
• Former member of the Colts (1993-99), enshrined in Colts Hall of Fame (2019)
• Previously served as a member of the Colts Board of Directors
• Bachelor’s degree, music with minor in communication studies
Stuart Pompel (Elected Director, three-year term)
• Founding instructor at Pacific Crest in 1993, served as its executive director from 1996 to 2018 and was appointed CEO in 2018
• Experienced in fundraising, donor relations, board cultivation, program development
• Nurtured relationships between Pacific Crest, community and corporate leaders while also establishing endorsement relationships with music industry leaders
• DCI-Pacific Division advisory board since 1999, serving as president from 2005-2010
Successfully served on DCI Finance Committee and Audit Committee and served as the Chair of the Voting Membership
• BA social sciences from Chapman University, Orange, California
Brandon Stansbury (Elected Director, three-year term)
• Director of financial planning and analysis for a global leader in game development software, helping to lead company through its IPO and a series of successful acquisitions
• Background in financial operations spanning diverse company stages and across various ownership structures, including venture capital, private equity and public domains
• Phantom Regiment, principal conductor (2002); proceeding to tour assistant and tour manager roles (2003-2008); integrally involved with Phantom Regiment educational program offerings, and has also served on corps’ finance committee since 2017
• Phantom Regiment, Board of Directors, 2020
• BS, finance from Southeastern Louisiana University
These individuals joined fellow board members JW Koester, Vicki MacFarlane, Jonathan Powell, Roni Plousis, Don Rawlins and Patrick Sweeney for the first time on Sunday, January 7, beginning a new year of work and oversight.
Ending their tenure as board members were James Doyle, Chris Holland, and John Masterson and who were recognized for their substantial contributions to the success of the Drum Corps International collective.
