INDIANAPOLIS — As part of conducting its regular business at the DCI Annual Meeting in Indianapolis on Saturday, January 11, the voting membership of Drum Corps International elected members for open positions on its board of directors.
Each year, three representatives are elected to rotating three-year terms for the nine-member board.
The DCI Board of Directors establishes the strategic vision of the organization as well as its business operations on behalf of voting member organizations. Board members offer unique insights, qualifications, and perspectives for organizational governance, business efficiency and effectiveness of execution against the corporate mission.
Newly-elected board members include:
RONI PLOUSIS (At-Large Director, three-year term)
Plousis is currently is an Accounting Manager for RADAR Nonprofit Solutions. She previously served as the CFO/COO of the Settlement Music School of Philadelphia. Prior to that, she was a partner in a public accounting firm for 23 years specializing in non-profit organizations. In 2021, she was named “CFO of the Year” by the Philadelphia Business Journal. She holds a BS in Business Administration from West Chester University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Plousis has served on the DCI Board for the past two years, currently chairs the Finance Committee , and also serves on the Audit Committee.
Plousis grew up in the drum corps activity as a proud member of the 507 Hornets and the Crossmen.
JONATHAN POWELL (Elected Director, three-year term)
Powell joined the DCI Board of Directors in 2019 and is currently completing his second term and has served as the board chair for the past two years. He is an executive in the food and beverage industry and recently took a new position as general manager/managing director for the Ferrara Candy Company where he has P&L responsibilities for their international division. Previous to that role, he was a director of plant operations for Premium Waters Inc.
Powell holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Arkansas. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt and change management leader, and an operational efficiency expert. An alum of the Blue Stars, he performed as their conductor in 2008 and 2009 and currently serves on the Blue Stars board of directors.
VICKI MACFARLANE (Elected Director, three-year term)
MacFarlane is responsible for the operations of the Colts Youth Organization, which includes the World Class Colts Drum & Bugle Corps, the Open Class Colt Cadets, and the Colts Summer Band. She has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Wartburg College and a master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from Arizona State University.
MacFarlane recieved the George Bonfiglio Chairperson's Award in 2018, and in 2022 she received the Dr. Bernard Baggs Leadership Award given to the DCI World Class Director of the Year.
MacFarlane served six terms as chair of the Open Class Advisory Committee and has served as chair of DCI’s Membership Affairs Committee. She has also served on DCI's InStep, Governance, and Competition Committees. She was first elected to the DCI Board of Directors in 2022.
These individuals will join fellow board members Stuart Pompel, Emily Neuendorf, Brandon Stansbury, JW Koester, Don Rawlins and Patrick Sweeney for the first time on Sunday, January 12, beginning a new year of work and oversight.
